Seventeen Colby College seniors, all studio art majors, have organized the Senior Art Exhibition 2025 at the Joan Dignam Schmaltz Gallery of Art in downtown Waterville, Maine. The exhibition, on view through May 24, features work by four sculptors, two photographers, three painters, five printmakers, and three digital media artists. It is the culmination of a yearlong capstone course that taught students the behind-the-scenes process of mounting an exhibition, including installation, collaboration with museum preparators, and producing a print catalog with artist statements and critical essays.
The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) has named 21 recipients for its 2026 Awards to Artists, selected from a record 160 applicants. The grants total nearly $42,000 and are divided into three categories: the Clare Hart DeGolyer Memorial Fund (up to $1,500 for artists aged 15–25 in a five-state region), the Arch and Anne Giles Kimbrough Fund (up to $3,500 for Texas artists under 30), and the Otis and Velma Davis Dozier Travel Grant (up to $6,000 for professional Texas artists over 30). All awardees are current Texas residents, with 16 based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. A public celebration will be held at the DMA on May 19, 2026.

Six high school students from Ohio's Mahoning Valley, representing Canfield and LaBrae high schools, have been selected to showcase their work in the 2026 Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. The Mangaweka Yellow Church Gallery in New Zealand, known for its annual Fakes and Forgeries exhibition, is celebrating its 20-year anniversary. Artists from Good Bank Gallery in McLaren Vale are collaborating with The Wild South on a series of events called TOXIC SURF (Mid Coast) as part of South Australia's Nature Festival. Several Carson High School art students earned top honors at the Nevada Artists Association Student Art Show. Senior Serenity Rodriguez placed first in the 3D category for her piece “Buried in Flowers,” while freshman Abbey Ortega earned third place for “Comic Book Art” and an honorable mention for “Cat Caught Fish.” Other students received honorable mentions across 2D and 3D categories. A collective of local residents founded Clacton Arts Centre (CAC) in late 2023 in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, to address the town's lack of free creative activities. A pop-up gallery, the Clacton Art Gallery, opened in a vacant retail unit in September 2024 and became a permanent hub after strong public support, now showcasing work from 39 local artists. The owners of State of the Art, a gallery in Cayce, South Carolina, are opening a new studio space dedicated to potters and visual artists. Indiana University Kokomo faculty, students, and alumni were well represented at the 127th Annual Exhibition by Indiana and Ohio Artists at the Richmond Art Museum. Minda Douglas, associate professor of fine art, won the Kevin McCurdy and Lisa Caiazzo Purchase Award for her print “Monarch Watch.” Anna Marcum, a recent BFA graduate, received the Johnson Family Merit Award for her self-portrait and had another painting selected. Aaron Pickens, associate professor of fine art and new media, had two oil paintings juried into the show, and junior Zoe Callender had her painting “Market Fish” selected. The exhibition runs through January 10, 2026.
That Art Place, a local art school run by Andronika Christodoulou, officially opened its new studio and gallery space in Carlton, Sydney, on July 12 with an exhibition titled 'First Light.' The event showcased works by over 65 young artists from the St George area, ranging from children as young as six to adult learners, featuring paintings, charcoal sketches, and mixed media. Boston University School of Visual Arts is presenting the 2025 Undergraduate Thesis Exhibitions from April 29 through May 10 across multiple galleries on campus, including the 808 Gallery, 808 Corridor Gallery, and Commonwealth Gallery. Nine students received awards at Jamestown Community College’s Juried Student Art exhibition, which opened recently in the Weeks Gallery on the Jamestown Campus. Winners included Tala Abuhmeidan (Outstanding Achievement in Painting), Alyson Danielson (President’s Award), Nicole Ford (Excellence in Sculpture), Rachel LeRoy (Distinguished Body of Work), Jack Lingenfelter (Innovation in New Media), Jessica Olson (Juror’s Award for Excellence), Zoe Pike (Excellence in Ceramics), Olivia Reynolds (Excellence in Drawing Practices), and Courtney Runge (Distinguished Work in Photography). The exhibition features works from students at JCC’s Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses across media including painting, drawing, prints, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and digital media. Three graduating seniors at Syracuse University—Lily Ryan, Rumini “Rumi” Nguyen, and Zoe Requena Bustillo—are preparing capstone projects for a final exhibition at the Warehouse Gallery, culminating their studio arts B.F.A. program. Ryan’s work explores queer identity, nostalgia, and the uncanny through mixed-media tinkering; Nguyen crochets objects from memory to process homesickness; and Requena Bustillo creates a puppet theater addressing Venezuelan history, displacement, and immigration.
