Annual photo show at MacNider Museum showcases local talent

The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum in Mason City, Iowa, has opened its 46th Annual Cerro Gordo Photo Show in the Center Space Gallery, sponsored by the Safford and Lena Lock Photo Endowment Fund. Sixty-two entries were submitted by residents of Cerro Gordo County and students at North Iowa Area Community College, with 36 photographs by 20 artists selected for exhibition. An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on May 7, 2026, with cash prizes including $125 for Best in Show. The exhibition runs through July 11, 2026, and admission is free.

Masure Gallery Brings a Focused Lens to Local Fine Art Photography in Fort Worth

Masure Gallery of Photography has opened in Fort Worth, Texas, as the city's only gallery dedicated exclusively to fine art photography. Founded through a partnership between gallery manager Simone Fischer and the co-owners of Fort Worth Camera, Jeff and CJ Masure, the space transforms a former event room into a white-walled exhibition venue with gallery-quality lighting. The gallery launched with "RED – A Bold Photography Exhibition," selected from nearly 200 open-call submissions requiring the color red, and now represents six local photographers: Walt Burns, Brooks Burris, Caroline Hanson, Chris Ireland, Felix Schilling, and K.P. Wilska. The first solo show, "Modern Exposure" by Walt Burns, opens June 4.

Artist Day at Flanders Nature Center May 9

Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust in Woodbury, Connecticut, will host Artist Day on Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Van Vleck Sanctuary. Artists, craftspeople, and photographers are invited to create work en plein air on the sanctuary's 200-acre grounds, which include woodlands, meadows, ponds, and historic buildings. The event is free and requires pre-registration. Participants may later be eligible to exhibit their work in Flanders’ 5th Annual Exhibition of Art in October at the Van Vleck Gallery.

Public Images Gallery opens on Route 66

Public Images Gallery, a new art space owned by Larry White, opens on Route 66 in Tulsa at 1507 E. 11th Street, next to Ike’s Chili. Its inaugural exhibition, “Roots, Rock, and Rebels ... The Photography of Henry Diltz,” features the work of renowned rock photographer Henry Diltz. An abridged version of this show was previously held at the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa in 2019 but was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The grand opening takes place on May 1 from 4 to 10 p.m., with Diltz appearing in person during First Friday festivities.

A pop-up gallery and urban art fair will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in the shared alleyway between Scion Cider and Laziz Kitchen on Jefferson Street in Salt Lake City's Central 9th neighborhood, from noon to 6 PM. The event features limited edition framed street photography, Plein Air paintings, watercolors, still life images, and mixed media pieces for sale, all depicting indoor and outdoor scenes from the neighborhood. New week-long 'Wild Art' exhibition celebrating nature and local creative talent set for Peterborough in May

A new community-led exhibition called 'Wild Art Exhibition 2026' will take place at Railworld Wildlife Haven in Peterborough from May 24 to 31. Organized by Community Clickers, Peterborough Together Project, and Peterborough Embroidery Society, the event features amateur artists, photographers, and makers from the area, showcasing works inspired by nature, wildlife, and the environment. The exhibition opens with a classic car show on May 24, presented in collaboration with Abandoned City Camo Crew.

Open studios at Père-Lachaise: a Parisian stroll to meet the artists

The 20th arrondissement of Paris will host the Open Studios at Père-Lachaise from May 8 to 11, 2026, organized by the association Ateliers du Père-Lachaise Associés (APLA). Approximately 30 local painters, sculptors, engravers, photographers, and other artists will open 15 studios to the public, offering free tours through the streets, courtyards, and passageways between Père-Lachaise Cemetery and Place de la Réunion. Visitors can meet artists, see works in progress, and purchase original pieces.
