The U.S. Latinx Art Forum (USLAF) has appointed artist, archivist, and curator Josh T. Franco as its new executive director, succeeding founding director Adriana Zavala. Under Franco’s leadership and alongside newly promoted deputy director Mary Thomas, the organization is shifting its mission toward fostering "convivial spaces" and organic networking. This new phase includes hosting intimate dinners across major cities to connect artists with supporters and planning a major touring exhibition featuring the 75 recipients of the Latinx Artist Fellowship.

S’pore artist Ho Tzu Nyen among medallists for inaugural Art Basel Awards, could get major commission

Singapore artist Ho Tzu Nyen has been named one of six medallists in the established artist category at the inaugural Art Basel Awards, announced on May 16. The 49-year-old shares the honor with artists including Cao Fei and Ibrahim Mahama. The two-round awards process will culminate in December with a shortlist of Gold medallists announced in Miami, and Ho is in line for a potential major commission from Art Basel. He was also recently appointed artistic director of the 16th Gwangju Biennale.

Cultured magazine hosted a party at the Twenty Two in New York to celebrate Sophia Cohen's appointment as arts editor-at-large. Cohen, a former Gagosian associate director and founder of the consultancy Siren, will write a monthly column called "In the Know." The event, timed to Frieze New York, brought together figures including fashion designer Kim Shui, writer Nate Freeman, art advisors Ralph DeLuca and Sandy Heller, artist Rogan Gregory, critic Johanna Fateman, collector Lucas Hoffmann, and David Zwirner senior director Lucas Zwirner.
