The Denver Art Museum has announced a major touring exhibition of Australian Indigenous Art, set to open in April 2026. The show is a collaborative effort organized by the National Gallery of Victoria and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and will also travel to the Portland Art Museum and the Peabody Essex Museum.
The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth presents "Lives of the Gods: Divinity in Maya Art," co-organized with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, marking the first major Maya exhibition in the U.S. in a decade. Featuring 95 works, the show includes 50 objects never before seen in the U.S. and 17 recent archaeological discoveries, with contributions from 23 lenders including the Museo Nacional de Arqueología y Etnología in Guatemala and the INAH – Museo Nacional de Antropología in Mexico City. The exhibition is organized thematically around Creations, Day, Night, Rain, Maize, Knowledge, and Patron Gods, and highlights recent scholarship in Maya glyph decipherment, archaeology, and art interpretation.
Maine College of Art & Design (MECA&D), in collaboration with the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) at MECA&D, presents the 2026 MFA Thesis Exhibition, showcasing the culminating work of nine graduate candidates in the Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art program. The exhibition features artists Abigail G. Cloutier, Harley Ngai Grieco, Molly Knobloch, Stephen Medeiros, Darby Miller, Dylan Ouellette, Caitlin Perrigo, Jonathan Spath, and Isaac L. The Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona is hosting a "Spring New Look Weekend" from Friday through Sunday to celebrate two new collections. The first, "Myths & Legends of Minnesota: An Exhibition of the Minnesota Plein Air Collective," features 43 paintings by 32 artists created outdoors across the state, focusing on folklore, oral traditions, and waterways. The second, "Gordon Coons: Gidibaajimomin / We Tell Stories," showcases 18 new works by Ojibwa artist Gordon Coons, along with earlier pieces and examples of Woodland Style art from Norval Morrisseau and Sam Ash. The weekend includes plein air painting demonstrations, a printmaking activity with Coons, meet-the-artist tours, and an evening social.
WaterFire Arts Center in Rhode Island has announced its summer and fall 2025 exhibition lineup, featuring five shows from June through November. Highlights include Kate Blacklock's solo exhibition "Inside Out" (June 5–July 6), which explores memory and identity through large-scale narrative paintings; "Growing the Networks" (July 10–August 31), a group show building on the 2024 NetWorks Rhode Island and Chazan Collection; "Family Business" (September 11–October 19), an immersive installation by the WaterFire Accelerate 2024–2025 cohort of six emerging artists; and "Nothing Follows its Spontaneous Course" (October 23–November 9). An exhibition titled 'Armor,' curated by Brianna Osborne, has opened at Creative Haverhill’s downtown gallery in Haverhill, Massachusetts. The show features fifteen artists and students from across New England, including participants from Waltham High School’s ceramics program, who explore the concept of armor in its physical, emotional, inherited, and self-made forms. A new exhibition titled "Permission to Breathe: A Black Woman’s Perspective on Living Life Unapologetically" opens at Positive Space Tulsa in midtown Tulsa, featuring nearly 30 works by Black women artists. Maryland Art Place (MAP) is hosting KIDOOO INSTALL DAY on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 12 pm to 4 pm, a youth version of its annual Out of Order event. Elementary, middle, and high school artists ages five to sixteen are invited to hang one original framed work (24" x 24" or less) on a first-come, first-served basis at MAP's 5th floor Gallery in Baltimore's Bromo Arts and Entertainment District. Registration is free, and all works must be priced to sell, with a silent auction taking place virtually on April 10, 2026.
The Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet Thesis Exhibitions, titled "In No Particular Order: Senior Show 2026," will open on April 10, 2026, at Vanderbilt University's Space 204 galleries.
