Stephanie Pierre, a Haitian American community developer and placemaker, has opened Kafou, a Haitian art-inspired gallery in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. The gallery launched with an inaugural exhibition titled “Space as Place,” featuring seven artists—including Bianca Allen, Marie Medijne Antoine, Jordan Dubreuil, Wilfrid Ignace, Richard Louissant, Claire Saintil, and Zarita Zevallos—whose works explore themes of space, place, migration, and identity. The Hungarian Academy of Arts (MMA) and the Hall of Art (Műcsarnok) have opened an outdoor panel exhibition in front of the Műcsarnok building on Bajza Street to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the institution's opening. Designed by Albert Schickedanz, the building was completed in 1896 for the Millennium alongside Heroes' Square and the Museum of Fine Arts. TIA KI – Nagaland Art Space in Dimapur is hosting 'Flower Moon: May Special', a week-long art exhibition running from May 2 to 9, 2026. The show features works developed during her 2024–25 Fulbright research in Istanbul and builds on ideas from her 2021–2023 Studio Artist Residency at A&H. Inspired by traditional Turkish and Middle Eastern textile practices, Martinez explores themes of urban life, surveillance, and cultural memory, using imagery from nighttime walks through Istanbul—fences, checkpoints, and barbed wire—combined with historic textile patterns. Her Cuban and Arab heritage and family’s experience of displacement inform her work, with weaving serving as a metaphor for endurance and resistance. The opening night is free to the public, with live music, food, and a cash bar.
