Tyler Fine Arts Gallery in Tyler, Texas, is set to open its doors after building renovations, featuring works by nine East Texas artists. A Union flag from the Battle of Trafalgar, flown on the Royal Sovereign under Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood, is being offered for sale at the Treasure House Fair for £450,000. The flag, newly identified by expert Martyn Downer, is one of only three known Union flags from the battle and is believed to be the most important such relic still in private hands. Ton Witteman, grandson of Dutch resistance hero Bart Witteman, has laid an unauthorized 'stumbling stone' (stolpersteine) in front of his grandfather's former home in Haarlem, Netherlands. Bart Witteman, a policeman who sheltered two Jewish people during World War II, was arrested, deported, and murdered by the Nazis in 1945. The city council had refused to include non-Jewish resistance figures in its official memorial program, which only covers the 733 murdered Jewish, Sinti, and Roma residents. Witteman obtained the hand-stamped brass plaque from German artist Gunter Demnig's Stolpersteine project and installed it himself with the current homeowners' blessing.
The MAO – Museo d’Arte Orientale in Turin has launched an open call titled "We need your light," inviting the public to lend up to three lamps each for a large-scale collective installation.
