Collective-The Art of Craft in Woodstock, Vermont, will serve as an information hub during the Vermont Craft Council’s Spring Open Studio Weekend on May 23-24. The statewide event features 175 artists at 133 locations, offering studio tours and artist demonstrations. The gallery will host a special exhibition from the Vermont Glass Guild and a live painting demonstration by artist Katie Roberts.
On May 7, the community gathered at Jodi House Gallery for a reception and awards ceremony hosted by Santa Barbara Channelkeeper, celebrating the 23rd Annual Student Art Show. High school students from Carpinteria to Goleta submitted 120 pieces interpreting the Santa Barbara Channel, with 50 selected for the show. Awards were juried by Meagan Stirling, Associate Professor of Art at Westmont College. First place went to Aricin Marshall for his ceramic sculpture *Tide Bound – Hollister Ranch*, second to Josefa Olivio for *Channel Islands Fox*, and third to Jocabed Carranza for *After the Tide*. The Environmental Ethic Award was given to Maria Rojo for *Insufferable Freedom*, and the Juror’s Choice Award to Madeline Adler for *Sea Life vs. Pollution: The Ongoing Battle*. Honorable mentions included Sophia Lam, Alejandro Miranda, and Camila Sandoval.
The Town of Windsor Museums is hosting a retrospective exhibition for longtime Windsor artist Maryanna Yauk, featuring her work from 1946 to 2025. The show includes acrylic and watercolor paintings, ceramic figurines, holiday-themed pieces, recycled-material creations, and a hand-stitched Bicentennial quilt. Isle of Wight Open Studios 2026 opens this Friday, 15th May, and runs until Monday 25th May, featuring over 200 artists and makers across the Isle of Wight. The Betteravia Art Gallery in Santa Maria, California, is opening a new group exhibition titled "Post-Wild: Nature in the 21st Century" on May 21, 2026. The University of Sunderland is celebrating 25 years of its Dry Run exhibition, a showcase for second-year BA Artist Designer Maker students specializing in glass and ceramics at the Shipley Art Gallery and Museum. The 17th Annual Virginia Beach Surf Art Expo will take place from May 23 to May 25, 2026, along the boardwalk at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian, in collaboration with Museums on Main Street, has launched its nationally touring exhibition "Americans" at the Cornell Creative Arts Center in Kingston, New York. Kingston is the first of 125 communities across the country to host the exhibition, which will travel for six years as part of the Rev250 commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
