Venezia Comics Celebrates Paolo Ongaro at Upcoming Festival

Italian cultural association Venezia Comics has announced an exhibition dedicated to comics artist Paolo Ongaro at its upcoming festival (1st–3rd May 2026). The exhibition, titled “Paolo Ongaro, il poeta dell’avventura” (“Paolo Ongaro: The Poet of Adventure”), will feature a range of his published work, with a focus on his series Spazio Chiama Atlantide. The event is organized in partnership with Storytelling Edizioni, which is also publishing the first volume of reprints of Ongaro’s stories. Ongaro, a recognized master of Italian comics born in Mestre in 1946, has worked for publishers such as Rizzoli, Mondadori, Disney, and Bonelli, and has drawn iconic characters including Tarzan, Diabolik, Mickey Mouse, and Martin Mystère. Lithuanian artist Lina Lapelytė has filled Berlin's Hamburger Bahnhof with 400,000 wooden blocks made of pine and spruce, creating a participatory installation titled “We Make Years Out of Hours.” Commissioned by Chanel, the work invites the public to build and rebuild structures from the 10-centimeter cubes. America’s Finest Renaissance Tapestry Set for Major Restoration

The European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF) has awarded its €25,000 Museum Restoration Fund to the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA) for the conservation of *The Meeting of Dante and Virgil*, a mid-16th century Italian Renaissance tapestry. This is the first time TEFAF has funded a tapestry restoration since the initiative began in 2012. The wool and silk tapestry, made between 1547 and 1549 by the Florentine workshop of Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici and designed by Francesco Salviati, depicts the opening scene of Dante’s *The Divine Comedy*. It is the only early Medici tapestry held by a public collection outside Italy, standing 17 feet tall and eight feet wide. Due to structural weaknesses and light sensitivity, it has been largely in storage for 70 years. Conservation work by the Midwest Art Conservation Center will include wet cleaning, stabilization, and partial reweaving, along with a new display system. The tapestry is scheduled to return to public view at MIA on July 11.

New bronze sculptures on display in downtown Palm Springs

Two new bronze sculptures by internationally recognized artist J.D. Hansen have been installed in downtown Palm Springs. Titled "Resonance" (10 feet tall) and "Family Group" (8 feet tall on its base, reaching approximately 10 feet overall), the works are now on display in front of the Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel as part of a temporary public art exhibition presented in collaboration with Grit Development and HOHMANN Fine Art. The sculptures will remain on view for about a year.

Amplifying Indigenous Voices with Phil Cash Cash and the Portland Art Museum
