Tuguldur Yondonjamts’s Animalistic Realm

Mongolian artist Tuguldur Yondonjamts explores the habitat of the saker falcon through a series of accordion-style books titled *The Secret Mountain of Falcons* (2011–14), created during fieldwork across Mongolia. The drawings, presented in Perspex vitrines at his solo exhibition *Wolf Loving Princess* at Gallery Ver in Bangkok, depict the falcon's perspective as imagined by the artist, blending black-and-white film-like imagery with abstract textures. The work responds to the falcon trade, particularly to the Middle East, and the species' declining population, which led to its designation as Mongolia's national bird in 2012.

New Pioneer Square art gallery focuses on immigrant art

Saina Heshmati and Amir Amini have opened ANTiPODE Art Gallery in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, a new space dedicated to showcasing the work of immigrant artists. Located in a basement shared with the Seattle Jazz Fellowship, the gallery functions as a multi-modal hub for cultural exchange, hosting art exhibitions alongside film screenings, tea ceremonies, and experimental music. The founders, both Tehran natives, aim to bridge the gap between Seattle and distant global cities through diverse programming that emphasizes the intersection of different artistic disciplines.

ANTiPODE gallery holds space for any artists’ work to thrive

Two best friends, Amir Amini and Saina Heshmati, founded ANTiPODE gallery in Seattle in September 2025. The gallery prioritizes immigrant and established artists, with 70% of exhibitions dedicated to immigrant artists and 30% to local artists, aiming to act as a cultural bridge between Seattle and cities like Tehran. The founders previously curated a group exhibition called "Postcard from Tehran" at the RailSpur building, which inspired the gallery's mission. ANTiPODE also hosts events such as movie nights and experimental music and dance performances to connect with the local community.
