Nottingham Contemporary has announced a major 2026 exhibition program dedicated to three influential Latin American artists: Chico da Silva, Julia Isídrez, and Francisco Tún. This ambitious schedule includes the first European institutional solo show for the late Brazilian Indigenous artist Chico da Silva, a co-production with MALBA for Paraguayan ceramicist Julia Isídrez, and a retrospective for the enigmatic Guatemalan painter Francisco Tún.

Lucy and Jorge Orta present their third solo exhibition at Jane Lombard Gallery in New York, titled "From Root to Rain." The show features a diverse range of media, including paintings, embroideries, tapestries, and film, all stemming from over three decades of collaborative research into ecological instability. The works bridge disparate geographic regions, from the Amazon rainforest to the Saudi Arabian desert, translating scientific data and field research into poetic visual forms that address climate change, migration, and environmental resilience.

Santiago Yahuarcani: The Beginning of Knowledge

The Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP) is hosting "El principio del conocimiento," the first solo exhibition in Brazil for Peruvian artist Santiago Yahuarcani. Curated by Amanda Carneiro, the show features approximately 35 paintings on llanchama (tree bark) that explore the Uitoto worldview. The exhibition is organized into five thematic sections that navigate the sensory experience of the Amazon, the spiritual significance of sacred plants like coca and tobacco, and the brutal historical memory of colonial extraction.

OSCAR SANTILLAN TO REPRESENT ECUADOR AT THE 61ST VENICE BIENNALE

Ecuador has selected artist Oscar Santillán to represent the nation at the 61st Venice Biennale in 2026. Curated by Manuela Moscoso and organized by the Museum of Anthropological and Contemporary Art (MAAC), the pavilion will feature a collaboration between Santillán and the collective Tawna. The exhibition, titled after the collective, will explore Andean-Amazonian contexts through a dialogue on territory, indigenous knowledge systems, and coexistence.

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC Lima) and the Lima Art Museum (MALI) have launched "Thought is a Hybrid Garden," a comprehensive exhibition spanning six decades of work by Francesco Mariotti and María Luy. The show draws from the Mariotti-Luy Archive and features light installations, acoustic works, and silkscreens that blend technology with Amazonian myths and environmental activism. Curated by Miguel A. López and José-Carlos Mariátegui, the exhibition includes never-before-seen works in Peru, such as the "Hybrid Gardens" series which uses bioluminescence as a metaphor for ecological health.
