Pittsburgh's commercial gallery scene is experiencing a resurgence as the Carnegie International, the country's longest-running recurring exhibition, prepares to open its largest edition yet with 61 artists. During the 2024 Venice Biennale, museums and foundations across the city are presenting solo and group exhibitions featuring major international art figures, including Marina Abramović, Lorna Simpson, Arthur Jafa, Richard Prince, and a tribute to Peggy Guggenheim. Ahead of the Gallery Weekend Berlin (May 1–3), the city is buzzing with parallel exhibitions that extend far beyond the official gallery circuit. Converge 45 announces list of artists for 2026 edition

Converge 45, a city-wide triennial based in Portland, Oregon, has announced the title and list of participating artists for its 2026 edition. The 10th edition, titled 'Here, To you, Now,' will take place from August 27–30 across 16 venues. Curated by Lumi Tan, the event draws inspiration from Ursula K. Le Guin's 1985 novel 'Always Coming Home,' emphasizing impermanence and spontaneous dialogue. The exhibition will feature works by 28 artists, including Trisha Baga, Gerald Clarke, and Rose Salane, among others.

Meet the Canadian artists heading to Venice Biennale

Five Canadian artists have been selected for the main exhibition of the Venice Biennale, titled *In Minor Keys*, which opens to the public next Saturday. The participants are Abbas Akhavan (featured in the Canada Pavilion), Manuel Mathieu, Rajni Perera, Marigold Santos, and one additional artist. The exhibition is the first Biennale curated by a Black woman, Cameroonian-Swiss curator Koyo Kouoh, who died suddenly in May last year after a cancer diagnosis, just six months after her appointment. Despite her death, the Biennale proceeded with her plans, with her team completing the work.

AKKA Venice Project: Beyond the Exhibition

Lidija Khachatourian, founder of AKKA Project, discusses her gallery's evolution from Dubai to Venice, where it remains the only gallery dedicated to African and diasporic artists.
