art basel zero 10 digital art platform miami beach 2025 1234760295

Art Basel will launch Zero 10, a new curated platform dedicated to digital art, at its Miami Beach edition in December 2025. Supported by OpenSea and curated by digital art strategist Eli Scheinman, the inaugural presentation will feature 12 international exhibitors including Art Blocks, bitforms gallery, Beeple Studios, Pace Gallery, AOTM, and Visualize Value, along with a loan of Lu Yang's DOKU – Heaven (2022) from the UBS Art Collection. The initiative takes its name from Kazimir Malevich's historic 1915 exhibition 0,10 and will run from December 5–7, 2025, with VIP previews on December 3–4, before expanding to other Art Basel fairs in 2026.

Jean-Michel Basquiat's 1983 painting *Onion Gum*, priced at $21.5 million, was one of the most expensive works for sale at the 23rd edition of Art Basel Miami Beach. The large square canvas, featuring a white head and handwritten text, has a long market history: it sold for $7.36 million at Sotheby's in 2012 to hedge fund manager Daniel Sundheim, then failed to meet its estimate at auction in 2016, fetching $6.6 million. Since 2017, Van de Weghe Gallery has used the work as collateral for bank loans, showing it at multiple Art Basel fairs with prices rising from $16.5 million in 2018 to the current $21.5 million.

Art Basel has introduced booth-fee discounts for first- and second-time exhibitors at its fairs, offering 20% off for first-year participants and 10% for second-year participants. The policy, confirmed by chief artistic officer Vincenzo de Bellis, has been in place since Art Basel Miami Beach in 2021 and applies to all Art Basel fairs in Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Miami Beach, with a new edition launching in Qatar. Starting in 2026, discounts will increase to 25% and 15% respectively.
