The Armory Show has announced its 2025 exhibitor list, featuring over 230 galleries set to participate in the fair from September 5–7 at the Javits Center in New York, with a VIP preview on September 4. This edition marks the first under new director Kyla McMillan, who has introduced a revised floor plan, a new section called Function organized by dealer Ebony L. Haynes, and a reconfiguration of the large-scale works Platform section led by Souls Grown Deep. More than 20 exhibitors are returning after a hiatus, including White Cube and Andrew Kreps, while 55 galleries are participating for the first time, such as Skarstedt and Megan Mulrooney.

Art advisor Ralph DeLuca, in his column "Street Smarts" for Cultured, analyzes the struggling photography market. He notes that photography auction sales have plummeted from a peak of $230.5 million in 2014 to just $116.9 million in 2024, attributing the decline partly to smartphones making photography seem effortless. DeLuca, who owns over 20,000 photographs, argues this downturn presents a rare buying opportunity for collectors to build museum-quality collections at lower prices.

Sebastiaan Bremer: Super Modern Things

Edwynn Houk Gallery presents "Super Modern Things," an exhibition of new works by Sebastiaan Bremer. The artworks blend photography and painting, starting from historical source images such as 17th-century Dutch botanical catalogues and Golden Age still life paintings. Bremer photographs these reproductions and adds ink and acrylic marks—dots, lines, stains, and washes—creating rhythms that evoke language, music, emotion, and constellations. The exhibition continues his long-standing exploration of flowers and the layered histories of still life, addressing themes of beauty, mortality, value, ecology, and global exchange. An accompanying monograph of his flower series is scheduled for Fall 2026.
