‘Knoxville Girl’ Gets Her Revenge in Wayne White’s New KMA Exhibition

The Knoxville Museum of Art has debuted a major new exhibition by Chattanooga-born artist and puppeteer Wayne White titled "Revenge of the Knoxville Girl." The centerpiece of the show is a ten-foot-tall marionette of the titular character from the famous Appalachian murder ballad, depicted as having crawled out of the river to claim the severed head of her killer, Willy. The installation blends local folklore with references to Cormac McCarthy’s novel *Suttree* and Tennessee Volunteers football culture.

Sienna Art Gallery & Gifts has officially opened at 129 S. Gay Street in Knoxville’s downtown Arts District. Founded by watercolorist Gayla Seale, fiber artist Judi Gaston, and painter Blanche Nicoll, the space serves as both a working studio and a retail gallery. The venue debuted during a recent First Friday event, featuring original works, architectural cityscapes, handwoven garments, and guest artist rotations, including pieces by Cynthia Markert.

Stampé, a new community atelier in Turin, Italy, has opened at Via Stampatori 5, a historic street once home to printers. The space is a hybrid cultural hub combining an art gallery, a workshop, a showroom for artisanal and food products, and a social enterprise incubator. It launched with a group exhibition featuring seven cultural associations and the communication agency Hello Tomorrow, showcasing works by emerging artists and graphic artworks from past events. The initiative is part of the "Piani Generativi 2" social enterprise development project, funded by the city of Turin and the Compagnia di San Paolo foundation.
