Nick Goss: Interview of the Month, March 2026 – Paul Carey-Kent

Anglo-Dutch painter Nick Goss has opened a new exhibition at Josh Lilley Gallery, featuring eleven paintings inspired by Eel Pie Island, a private marshy area on the Thames in Twickenham with a bohemian past—including 1960s rock concerts by The Rolling Stones, The Who, and Pink Floyd, a hippie commune, and a 1972 fire. In an interview with Paul Carey-Kent, Goss discusses how he blends fact and fiction, combining sources from hotel corridors, Pompeii, and the Sergeant Pepper album cover to create ambiguous, layered works that evoke half-remembered histories.

New group exhibition at Art of Contemporary Africa SF

Art of Contemporary Africa (AOCA), the first Pan-African contemporary gallery in San Francisco, will open a major group exhibition titled *Memory in Motion: Identities, Materials and Resonances* on 2 May 2026. The 24th episode of Sky Arte's program "Artbox" airs on May 5, 2026, coinciding with the official start of the Venice Biennale Arte 2026. The episode focuses on the third edition of EXPOSED Torino Photo Festival, themed "Mettersi a nudo" (Stripping Bare), inspired by Baudelaire. Anthony Lister, once called "Australia's Banksy," is staging a comeback with a new exhibition titled "Circus of Life" after being acquitted of sexual assault charges. The six-year legal battle, which began with a police raid on his Sydney home in 2020, led to the cancellation of his shows, financial ruin, and public vilification. Just before the opening of the Venice Art Biennale, its president Pietrangelo Buttafuoco is facing mounting criticism after the entire jury resigned. Italian Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli accused Buttafuoco of pursuing a form of "parallel foreign policy" by readmitting Russia to the six-month exhibition, calling him a "victim of a pacifist fantasy." The opening ceremony and the traditional Golden Lion awards have been canceled; prizes will now be decided by visitor vote at the end of the Biennale in November.
