Kathleen Goncharov, a curator known for her work at Just Above Midtown gallery and the Boca Raton Museum of Art, died at her home in Boca Raton, Florida, on December 31 at age 73. Over her career, she served as senior curator at the Boca Raton Museum of Art from 2012 to 2025, curated exhibitions internationally from Rio de Janeiro to Rome, and was commissioner of the US Pavilion for the Venice Biennale in 2003, presenting Fred Wilson's exhibition "Speak of Me as I Am." She also held positions at Creative Time, the New School, MIT, the Nasher Museum of Art, and the Brodsky Center for Innovative Editions, and was a working artist for 40 years.

Stained glass artists open Mount Vernon arts hub — The Gallery on Gambier

Stained glass artists Kurt and Lorraine Wendling have officially opened The Gallery on Gambier in downtown Mount Vernon, Ohio. The new creative hub serves as the permanent home for their business, Wendling Glass Creations, while also showcasing the work of approximately 20 other artists specializing in mediums ranging from photography to oil painting. The space is designed as a multi-functional venue, incorporating a retail gallery, a custom framing center, and a dedicated classroom for art instruction.

Rutland art center prepares for opening of new miniatures exhibit

The Chaffee Arts Center in Rutland, Vermont, is launching a new exhibition dedicated to the art of miniatures. Opening this Friday and running through May 22, the showcase is a collaborative effort featuring works from the Festival of Miniatures in Brattleboro, the Dollhouse and Toy Museum of Vermont, and approximately ten local artists, including watercolorist Lorraine Dewey.

Venice installation celebrates migrants with 100 large-scale portraits

A large-scale installation titled 'Dreams in Transit' has been unveiled on the facade of the Procuratie Vecchie in Venice’s St. Mark’s Square, featuring 100 black-and-white portraits of migrants photographed from behind. The project, launched on Wednesday in collaboration with Art for Action and The Human Safety Net (a foundation funded by Generali), takes inspiration from French street artist JR’s Inside Out project but reverses the perspective. Inside the building, a complementary exhibition includes works by Leila Alaoui, Lorraine de Sagazan, Anouk Maugein, Ange Leccia, and a sound installation by Sarah Makharine, all focusing on migrants’ dreams and resilience.
