Jean Shin’s Living Memorial to the Trees of Green-Wood Cemetery

Artist Jean Shin unveiled a new site-specific earthwork titled "Offering" (2026) at Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery on April 18. The installation, situated in a meadow facing the cemetery's gates, consists of a long, oval-shaped mound of soil covering two felled oak trees. The work was inspired by traditional Korean tumulus burial mounds and involved a community ritual led by a Korean shaman, with volunteers planting wildflowers and shrubs on the mound.

Don Brown & Max Cole’s art in ‘Postcards From Home’ exhibit

The Michelson Museum of Art in Marshall, Texas, recently debuted 'Postcards from Home,' a collaborative exhibition featuring the works of regional artists Don Brown and Max Cole. The opening reception drew a significant local crowd, including three generations of Cole’s descendants, to celebrate the legacy of two figures who captured the landscapes and history of East Texas. Art Fund launches UK-wide touring programme

Art Fund has launched a UK-wide touring programme called Going Places, backed by £5.36 million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Julia Rausing Trust. The first exhibition, *Making Her Mark: A Celebration of Women in Art*, opened at Penlee House Gallery & Museum in Penzance, featuring over 60 works from three museum collections alongside community responses. It will travel to Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum and Kirkcaldy Gallery through 2027. The programme plans 12 major touring shows over five years, with six already scheduled, including exhibitions on green spaces, journeys, radical living, art and nature, and community making.

Pitt Meadows artist goes ‘Full Circle’ with new exhibit

An exhibition titled “Full Circle” opens May 2 at the Pitt Meadows Art Gallery, showcasing the work of local artist Liz Boulton. The show features her paintings in watercolour, acrylic, and mixed media, as well as hand-built art dolls, reflecting her decades-long artistic journey and her use of texture mediums, gels, and repurposed materials.

Monica Rohan, a Brisbane-based artist, creates vibrant oil paintings in which domestic objects like patterned tablecloths and bentwood dining chairs appear in remote, natural landscapes. Her recent works, including those from her upcoming solo exhibition "Invitations" at Sophie Gannon Gallery in Melbourne this June, increasingly omit human figures, allowing the objects themselves to become stand-ins for people. The scenes are inspired by her hiking trip through Tasmania, featuring alpine summits, streams, and meadows.

Artist Day at Flanders Nature Center May 9

Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust in Woodbury, Connecticut, will host Artist Day on Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Van Vleck Sanctuary. Artists, craftspeople, and photographers are invited to create work en plein air on the sanctuary's 200-acre grounds, which include woodlands, meadows, ponds, and historic buildings. The event is free and requires pre-registration. Participants may later be eligible to exhibit their work in Flanders’ 5th Annual Exhibition of Art in October at the Van Vleck Gallery.

Western Spirit Museum highlights student artists during Youth Art Month exhibit

Western Spirit Museum, Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, partnered with the Arizona Art Education Association to present a Youth Art Month exhibition from March 15 to March 28, 2025. The show featured 109 original works by students in kindergarten through 12th grade from 22 schools across Arizona, spanning multiple mediums and styles. The exhibit concluded with a student artist reception on March 28, drawing families, educators, and community members. Teachers submitted student artwork, which was reviewed and selected by the Arizona Art Education Association Youth Art Month board.
