A Vienna Theater Opens Its Prized Klimt Ceiling Paintings to Tours During Restoration

The Burgtheater in Vienna has opened guided tours allowing the public to view Gustav Klimt's ceiling paintings up close for the first time, during a restoration of the works. The 10 paintings, created in the late 1880s by Klimt, his brother Ernst, and Franz Matsch, hang 60 feet above the staircases and were recently cleaned with cotton swabs and purified water after water damage. The tours, which require sturdy footwear, are currently sold out due to high demand.

Daumier, known for his sharp satire and acute social observation, critiqued political abuses and social injustices of 19th-century European society. The show also recalls a previous Daumier exhibition held at the Albertina in 1936, which served as a political statement against Nazi oppression.

The unRepresented art fair returns to Paris for its fourth edition, taking place from April 10 to 12 at the Hôtel Molière. Founded by Emilia Genuardi, the salon provides a platform for fifteen independent artists who are not currently represented by galleries, allowing them to showcase their work during the busy Art Paris week. This year's selection focuses on artists who "experiment with the image," featuring diverse practices ranging from Regina Anzenberger’s painted photographs to Tania Arancia’s textile-based archival works.
