Berlin Museum of Prints and Drawings Wins Award in New York

Berliner Kupferstichkabinett gewinnt Auszeichnung in New York

The Kupferstichkabinett (Museum of Prints and Drawings) in Berlin has acquired two new works from the IFPDA Fine Art Print Fair in New York. The purchases were funded by the museum winning the Richard Hamilton Acquisition Prize, which provided a $10,000 grant specifically for acquisitions at the fair. The new additions are a 2005 paper work titled "Europa" by German-American artist Kiki Smith and a 2001 lithograph titled "Pregnant Caryatid" by Louise Bourgeois.

The Update | Emerging Artist Program Exhibits Selectee’s Works

The New Castle Public Library in Pennsylvania is hosting an exhibition of works by Madeline Zimmer, an 18-year-old emerging artist, through June 17. The show, titled "Arbitrary Existence," features digital characters and pastel drawings inspired by comics and graffiti art, and is part of the Hoyt's Emerging Artist Program, which provides selected artists with hands-on support including exhibition development, installation, and promotion.

New Building at Burg Halle Takes Shape

The long-delayed new building for the Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle (University of Art and Design Halle) is moving forward, with a construction start now planned for autumn 2027. The Finance Committee of the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament has approved the updated cost estimate of around 42 million euros, clearing the way for the project. While the building was originally slated for completion in 2027, a more realistic finish date is now 2030, with preparatory moves and demolition work scheduled to begin in late 2026.
