A rare Rembrandt counterproof print, "The Goldweigher" (1639), was discovered in a Victorian chest in the Norfolk studio of the late theater designer Alan Barlow. His son, Edward Barlow, found the print while sorting through the studio and initially assumed it was a common reproduction. After examination by Cheffins auction house, it was identified as an original preparatory print, with reversed orientation, a Strasbourg lily watermark, and black chalk lines indicating Rembrandt's hand. It will be auctioned on December 3 with an estimate of £10,000–£20,000.

After being closed for years this gallery is opening its doors again

Toi Tauranga Art Gallery in Tauranga, New Zealand, will reopen to the public on November 15, 2025, after a three-year closure (2022–2025) for seismic upgrades and refurbishment. The gallery, originally opened in 2007, has been renovated to connect with the new council-led cultural precinct Te Manawataki o Te Papa, which includes a library, museum, performing arts centre, and council chambers. An art project 150 years in the making

Artist Janet Fry discovered a 150-year-old pocket diary belonging to her great-great-grandmother, Caroline Currey Kelso, which had been stored in a nightstand drawer for nearly two decades. In May 2024, Fry decided to create an exhibition titled "The 1875 Diary Project" at Storage Space Gallery, opening October 17. The show features recorded diary excerpts read by 12 women artists, enlarged reproductions of the diary pages, and Fry's own artistic responses. Fry transcribed the diary using a magnifying glass, revealing Kelso's experiences as a 19th-century Illinois housewife, including her loneliness, daily chores, and repeated pregnancies.
