Artist displays big ideas with Alpharetta exhibit

The Alpharetta Arts Center is hosting a solo exhibition of works by Cuban-born, Atlanta-based artist Alexi Torres through April 18. The showcase features a diverse range of media, including intricate oil paintings that mimic woven textures, bronze sculptures, and embroideries that explore themes of spiritual connection and human consciousness. Torres, who follows lunar cycles for his creative process, utilizes symbolic imagery such as a scarlet wicker Buddha and a Statue of Liberty rendered in baseball stitching to convey complex narratives.

Vian Sora: Tepe Gawra

Vian Sora’s solo exhibition "Tepe Gawra" at Bortolami Gallery marks her debut with the gallery, featuring a series of large-scale paintings that bridge ancient Mesopotamian history with contemporary Iraqi experience. The works, such as 'Celestial capsule' and 'Scarlet', utilize a complex layering process of poured acrylics and precise oil applications to explore themes of mortality, survival, and the aftermath of conflict.

Fisherton Mill to showcase 14 artists and makers on Salisbury Art Trail

Fisherton Mill in Salisbury will host 14 artists and makers as part of the Salisbury Art Trail, running from May 23 to June 7. The mill's first-floor display space will feature resident studio artists, while the main gallery presents 'Brush, Kiln & Camera', a group exhibition from the Nova Art Guild showcasing ceramics, paintings, glasswork, and photography by Fiona Charter, Tamsyn Gregory, Lindsay Keir, Scarlet Leatham, Geraldine McLoughlin, and David Walker. Visitors can meet artists daily during the trail, and admission is free.

Guntersville Museum Welcomes ARTS Works

The Guntersville Museum hosted a recognition ceremony for the 18th annual ARTS Works All-County Student Art Exhibit, organized by the nonprofit Artists Responding to Students (ARTS). The exhibit featured around 100 artworks from K-12 students across Marshall County, including Boaz, Grant, Guntersville, and Albertville. For the second year, the show included special needs artists, with the Kamryn HeART Award presented in memory of a young artist. Additionally, the Lakeview Community Civic Organization displayed posters from its Black History Month contest. Winners were announced across multiple grade categories, judged by two National Board Certified Teachers from Decatur.

"In Between" Art Exhibition Comes to Plymouth This April

A new exhibition titled 'In Between' opens in Plymouth, featuring work from artists of East Asian backgrounds. The show, curated by Oliver Li, includes photography, illustration, and image-based works from artists Bo Fan, Sean Yang, Yifei Xiang, Yulong Li, and the duo Zoe Cui and Nandal Seo, as well as Scarlett Yang's 'Her Feast' series. It explores themes of intimacy, gender, and navigating multiple cultural identities. The exhibition runs from April 24 to May 3 at a gallery space on 37 Looe Street, with an opening night event and an artist-led workshop scheduled.
