Fancy a date at the Tate? London galleries are staying open later to fuel surging Gen Z interest

Tate Modern will resume regular late-night openings until 9pm every Friday and Saturday starting September 26, responding to a surge in younger visitors. The decision follows a record-breaking 25th birthday weekend in May, where 70% of the 76,000 attendees were under 35. The gallery has also run monthly Tate Late events since 2016, and the new extended hours aim to make the museum more accessible for working people and cash-strapped Gen Zers, offering free cultural date nights.
