The Greater Washington region launches "Women Artists of the DMV," the largest curated fine arts exhibition ever dedicated to contemporary female artists in the United States. Featuring more than 500 artists across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., the landmark survey spans 16 galleries and cultural venues from late August through January 2026, with the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center serving as the central hub. Curated by Florencio Lennox Campello, the exhibition highlights both established and emerging voices across genres including painting, sculpture, glasswork, textiles, and public art, with strong representation from Southern Maryland and Prince George's County.
The Lansing area lost the Lansing Art Gallery this year, but the local arts scene remains vibrant with several other venues. The Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council (LARAC) will present a two-person exhibition titled "Show IV: Meet Me in the Woods" featuring artists Noah Bonesteel and Katie Langford at the Lapham Gallery in Glens Falls, New York, from May 22 to June 24. The show includes an opening reception on May 22 and an Artists Talk on June 4, both free and open to the public. Bonesteel, a painter and printmaker, uses abstract, layered compositions inspired by Adirondack ecology, while Langford, an oil painter, brings a narrative, plein air approach to the region's landscapes.
Albany Center Gallery is seeking artists and vendors for its third annual Summer Art Fest, a free outdoor art festival taking place July 18 at Quackenbush Square and Clinton Market Collective in downtown Albany. The event features a curated pop-up gallery, a new vendor market, a kids' art corner, interactive activities, and live artmaking. Submissions are free, with a deadline of June 10, and guidelines are available on the gallery's website. Last year's festival drew over 1,000 attendees from the Capital Region.
