Ripple Effect Art Festival to Spread Across County

The inaugural Ripple Effect Arts Festival will take place April 16–26 across Santa Cruz County, featuring 11 days of performances, exhibitions, workshops, and interactive events spanning visual art, music, dance, theater, film, fashion, and spoken word. The festival includes two concurrent exhibitions at M.K. Contemporary Art in downtown Santa Cruz: 'The Anatomy of Wonder: Photo Sculptures' by Michael Garlington and 'Rochambeau' featuring eight local and Bay Area artists. Major hubs include Santa Cruz and Watsonville, with a grand finale near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk featuring musician Helado Negro.

The Community of Digital Artists (CODA) is launching its juried exhibition, "Color Stories: 2026," at the R. Blitzer Gallery in Santa Cruz. Featuring works from 54 local photographers, the show was curated by Shelby Graham, the former longtime director of the Sesnon Gallery at UC Santa Cruz. The exhibition includes a series of public programs, including a juror’s talk and artist presentations, running through early May.

Cabrillo Gallery Hosts Student Art Exhibition as Part of Ripple Effect Festival

Cabrillo Gallery is set to launch its Student Exhibition 2026 on April 20, featuring a diverse range of media including painting, sculpture, and photography created by Cabrillo College students. The exhibition kicks off with a special reception on April 19, integrated into the countywide Ripple Effect arts festival, which will include live music, interactive art activities, and a student art sale.
