Exhibition in aid of countryside projects sees £10,000 worth of art sold

An art exhibition organized by CPRE Hampshire at the Amanda Aldous Fine Art Gallery near Basingstoke from May 15 to May 18 raised over £10,000 through art sales. The event featured works by Hampshire artists, including featured artist Sarah Capes, and included a sold-out private viewing. Proceeds support the charity's countryside protection projects, including the expansion of its Magnificent Meadows project into Andover and Basingstoke.

Internationally renowned artist to headline new exhibition

Internationally renowned ceramic artist Jin Eui Kim will present his exhibition "Simplicity and Complexity" at The Base, Greenham, from June 26 to August 30. The show features sculptural works exploring illusion and reality, alongside a program of workshops and an evening talk with the artist. Kim, originally from South Korea and now based in Cardiff, holds an MA and PhD in ceramics from Cardiff School of Art & Design, and his work is held in major public collections including Manchester Art Gallery and the National Museum Wales.

From fine art to upcycled furniture - New exhibition opens in Festival Place

The Artist’s Window charity has launched a massive 660-square-metre pop-up exhibition titled Art Space within the Festival Place shopping centre. Featuring 17 professional and amateur artists, the showcase includes a diverse range of media such as fine art, photography, and upcycled furniture. The venue also functions as an interactive studio, offering community workshops and "Stay and Play" sessions for families throughout its run.

Exhibition coming this month will showcase work of Hampshire artist

An exhibition showcasing the work of Basingstoke-based artist Sam Sopwith will open on October 8 at the Osborne Studio Gallery in Belgravia, London. The show features 45 new pieces by the painter and sculptor, who specializes in portraying wild and domesticated animals. It marks Sopwith's first solo exhibition in six years and her debut at the gallery. Her clients include HRH Princess Alexandra and perfumer Jo Malone. Sopwith works in oils, pastels, charcoal, and bronze, drawing inspiration from her travels to Africa, Sri Lanka, and South Africa. She studied in Vancouver, trained under animal portraitist Neil Forster in England, and completed her education in Florence.

Exhibition to showcase work of local artist at Basingstoke museum

An upcoming exhibition titled 'Me, Myself and Art' will showcase the work of local figurative artist Neal Whelan at The Willis Museum and Sainsbury Gallery in Basingstoke, running from September 6 to October 5. The show features a diverse collection of Whelan's best works, including familiar North Hampshire landscapes and abstract pieces like 'An August Dance', inspired by Brian Friel's play 'Dancing at Lughnasa'. Whelan's art has previously been displayed at THAT Gallery and the 7Artists+ exhibitions at Proteus.
