An art exhibition organized by CPRE Hampshire at the Amanda Aldous Fine Art Gallery near Basingstoke from May 15 to May 18 raised over £10,000 through art sales. The event featured works by Hampshire artists, including featured artist Sarah Capes, and included a sold-out private viewing. Proceeds support the charity's countryside protection projects, including the expansion of its Magnificent Meadows project into Andover and Basingstoke.
The exhibition matters because it demonstrates how local art events can directly fund environmental conservation, blending cultural engagement with practical support for rural landscapes. It also provided a platform for emerging Hampshire artists to gain exposure and sell their work, strengthening the connection between the local art community and countryside preservation efforts.
