'Ukiyoe Immersive Art Museum GINZA' opens in Tokyo in Spring 2027, after 500,000 visitors and numerous awards
The Ukiyoe Immersive Art Museum GINZA will open in Tokyo's Ginza district in Spring 2027, transforming a successful traveling exhibition series into a permanent digital art museum. The exhibitions, held in nine cities worldwide, attracted over 500,000 visitors and featured immersive 3D video projections of works by renowned ukiyo-e artists including Hokusai, Kuniyoshi, Hiroshige, Utamaro, Sharaku, and Kunisada. The museum will offer eight conceptual 3D video areas using cutting-edge 3DCG animation and projection mapping based on over 300 ukiyo-e works, alongside original Edo-period prints and multilingual explanations.
