Charity Art UK has completed a major digitisation project, recording nearly 7,000 murals and street artworks across the UK. The Murals Digitisation and Engagement Programme, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, created an online database of over 21,000 public artworks, capturing everything from medieval church paintings to contemporary 2025 murals, with the help of a network of 90 volunteers.
A new £5.2 million cultural centre called Arts Collective is opening in Northampton, UK, on May 1st. The centre, housed in a refurbished 1930s former municipal building, features a gallery, 17 artist studios, workshop spaces, and community facilities. Its opening exhibition, "House Rules," presents a retrospective of British conceptual artist Rose Finn-Kelcey.
Helen Legg has been named the new artistic director of the Royal Academy of Arts in London, starting in June. She joins from Tate Liverpool, where she served as director since 2018, and brings prior leadership experience from Spike Island in Bristol and curatorial work at Ikon Gallery in Birmingham.
