Pictures: Emma Lamb opens Dartmoor-inspired 3D art exhibition near Ivybridge

Emma Lamb, a South Devon-based 3D mixed-media artist, has opened a new exhibition titled *Long Live the Wilderness Yet* at Lukesland Gardens near Ivybridge. The show features two of her major series, *Reviving Mires* and *Fragmented Forest*, both inspired by Dartmoor’s fragile ecosystems. Lamb uses handmade paper, natural fibers, pigments, and experimental techniques such as inks made from air pollution to create works that explore peatlands and temperate rainforests. The exhibition runs until early June, and Lamb will also host a workshop in June teaching participants to create collages using natural materials.

Pictures: Castle Drogo hosts powerful women’s history art exhibition this March

The Herding Cats Arts Collective is presenting a month-long exhibition titled 'A Woman’s Place' at Castle Drogo, a National Trust property on Dartmoor. The exhibition, running throughout March 2026, features contemporary works that explore the domestic and social structures governing the lives of women connected to the estate during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Through research conducted with castle historians, the artists utilize domestic materials and imagery to highlight the often-overlooked histories of both the working-class staff and the upper-class residents of the fortress.

Exeter artists turn away from traditional landscapes in bold new exhibition

A new exhibition titled 'Not A Pretty Landscape' opens at Kaleider Studios in Exeter from January 31 to February 1, featuring 15 artists who present contemporary and unconventional views of the South West, deliberately avoiding traditional coastal and rural landscapes. Curated by Exeter-based artist Claire Le Day, the show emerged from an open call with no rules or experience requirements, only the condition that no pretty landscapes be submitted. Artists keep 100% of their profits, and most will be present to meet visitors and manage sales. Featured artists include Jo Beer, whose portraits have been recognized by the National Portrait Gallery and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
