Previous actions include Israeli artist Ruth Patir delaying the opening of Israel’s pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale until a ceasefire, and widespread protests against Israel’s participation in the 2026 Biennale. Documenta also faced upheaval when its selection committee for 2027 resigned en masse. '100 Artists for Gaza' channels artistic energy into direct humanitarian relief, highlighting how artists are using their platforms to advocate for peace and provide tangible support on the ground.
