Student exhibit ‘Art in Flight’ now on display at CWA

A student art exhibition titled 'Art in Flight' is now on display at Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA) in Mosinee. Organized by the Wausau School District, the show features original works by local high school students in the main terminal building. The exhibit was first installed in April 2025 and was conceived by Wausau West High School student Sadie Peissig. Alison Iaffaldano, a Wausau West sophomore, serves as the 2026-2027 liaison between the high schools and the airport board, while teacher Trisha Sirny advises the project. The installation will remain on view for one year.

This exhibition matters because it provides a public platform for young artists to share their work with a broad audience of travelers, fostering community engagement and supporting arts education. By transforming an airport wall into a gallery, the project highlights the value of student creativity and strengthens ties between local schools and civic institutions. It also offers emerging artists early exposure to exhibiting in a professional setting, which can encourage continued artistic development.
