Hancock artist R. Kipp Miller showcases ‘The Art of Things Found’

Hancock resident and artist R. Kipp Miller is presenting a new exhibition titled 'The Art of Things Found' at the Hancock Town Library gallery, running through June. The opening reception takes place on Saturday, May 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. Miller, who comes from a family of artists, creates works from discarded objects such as wood, glass, bottle caps, iron, and old turntables. He also paints and photographs his found objects, and sometimes collaborates with his son, a fashion photographer in New York City. All pieces in the show are for sale, with 20% of proceeds benefiting the Hancock Library.

The exhibition matters because it highlights the growing interest in assemblage and found-object art within a local community context, while also supporting a public library through art sales. Miller's participation in major events like Art Basel in Miami and New York Art Week, alongside local events such as the Monadnock Art Tour, bridges the gap between regional and international art scenes, demonstrating how local artists can maintain a presence in both spheres.
