Seven students from the Cape Henlopen School District received awards at the Rehoboth Art League's annual Young at Art exhibition, a juried show celebrating youth creativity. Madison Capece, a Cape High senior, won Best in Show, while Ted Hart earned an Award of Excellence. Other winners included Chloe Yeung and Faye Yetter (Picasso-O'Keefe Promising Young Artist Awards), Myles Nathan (Upcoming Artist Award), Sofia Vale-Booton (Lee Wayne Mills Memorial Award), and Zachary Barth (Derrickson Award nominee). The exhibition featured student work in painting, drawing, mixed media, and sculpture.
This recognition matters because it highlights the importance of arts education in local schools and provides young artists with professional gallery exposure, building confidence and encouraging continued artistic development. District Superintendent Dr. Jenny Nauman praised the students' creativity and dedication, underscoring how such opportunities showcase the value of arts programs in fostering talent and self-expression among youth in Sussex County.
