Vhils presents "Interstice", his new solo exhibition at the Danysz Gallery in Paris — our photos

Portuguese street artist Vhils (Alexandre Farto) presents "Interstice," a new solo exhibition at Danysz Gallery in Paris, running from May 22 to June 20, 2026. The show features around 26 works created from materials sourced in the French capital, including fragments of posters, metal display structures, subway doors, and ceramic tiles. A centerpiece is a Lisbon metro car body painted by the artist. The exhibition explores the concept of "non-places" as defined by anthropologist Marc Augé, focusing on Paris as a fragmented experience of movement and transition, with metro and train imagery playing a central role.

The exhibition matters because it showcases Vhils' signature technique of "destruction créatrice"—carving, sanding, and fragmenting surfaces to reveal hidden portraits—applied to urban materials that carry the history of the city. It reinforces Vhils' status as a globally recognized street artist who interrogates the impact of urban life on identity and landscape. The free, accessible nature of the show also highlights the ongoing vitality of street art in Paris's gallery scene.
