Photo gallery: Annual Art Youth Expo opens

The Hazleton Art League opened its 15th annual Art Youth Expo at the Hayden Family Center for the Arts on May 29, 2026, featuring works by regional artists aged 13 to 30. The opening was part of a Community Art Party with music, poetry, dance, theater, street performers, food vendors, and hands-on activities at several downtown locations, organized in collaboration with the City of Hazleton and local organizations including the HIP Center, Penn State LaunchBox, Charis Academy, PTPA, the Greater Hazleton Area Concert Series, CAN DO, and the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce. The exhibition runs through June 21, and an open mic performance featured Ava Badamo of Sugarloaf singing "Burn" from Hamilton.

This event matters because it highlights a grassroots effort to engage young and emerging artists in a regional community, providing a platform for creative expression and cross-disciplinary arts programming. The collaboration between the art league, city government, and multiple local organizations demonstrates how community partnerships can sustain annual arts initiatives, fostering local cultural vibrancy and supporting the next generation of visual and performing artists.
