Amir H. Fallah

Amir H. Fallah is a Los Angeles-based artist whose multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, sculpture, and installation. His work is characterized by a unique approach to portraiture that obscures the physical likeness of the subject, instead utilizing a dense network of symbols, personal possessions, and botanical patterns to construct a narrative of personhood. By deconstructing Western traditions of representation, Fallah explores the liminal spaces of identity, focusing particularly on the immigrant experience, generational trauma, and the complexities of being 'Othered' in contemporary society.

Born in Tehran, Fallah has established a significant presence in the international art world, with works held in prestigious permanent collections including LACMA, the de Young Museum, and the ICA Miami. His career is marked by numerous accolades, such as the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant and the Northern Trust Purchase Prize at EXPO Chicago. Beyond his studio practice, Fallah is recognized for his influential role as the founder of the art and design publication Beautiful/Decay, further cementing his impact on the visual culture of the 21st century.
