Alison Kuo in Conversation - New Museum

The New Museum is hosting a public conversation on June 25, 2026, featuring Artist in Residence Alison Kuo and art historian William Ma. The discussion will center on Kuo’s latest performance work, which draws from her ongoing research and training in Cantonese Opera. The dialogue aims to explore the intersection of material culture, community life, and the Asian diaspora experience within Manhattan’s Chinatown.

Alison Kuo is a multidisciplinary artist and community organizer whose work is held in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum. She will be joined by Dr. William Ma, a specialist in Chinese artistic exchanges and co-curator of an upcoming Smithsonian exhibition on Chinatowns. The event is part of the New Museum’s residency program, supported by the Daniel Xu and Flora Huang Foundation and the LUMA Foundation.
