Jewish Museum of New York Renovation Design by UNS

UNS, in collaboration with New Affiliates Architecture and Method Design, has completed a major renovation of the Jewish Museum in New York, transforming half of the museum's public space for the first time in over 30 years. The project reimagines the collection galleries and introduces a new 7,000-square-foot learning center on the fourth floor, along with a redesigned third-floor gallery installation. A centerpiece of the design is a 50-foot custom vitrine displaying over 130 Hanukkah lamps, and the renovation emphasizes accessibility, inclusivity, and flexible spaces for education and community engagement.

This renovation matters because it represents the Jewish Museum's most significant renewal in decades, doubling down on its mission to serve diverse audiences through education and contemporary dialogue. By integrating galleries, learning spaces, and community areas, the project sets a new standard for how museums can balance historical preservation with forward-looking, inclusive design. It also highlights UNS's growing influence in cultural architecture, following their work on the Mercedes-Benz Museum and Valkhof Museum.
