Sharjah Art Foundation has opened applications for Corniche 8, the eighth edition of its annual comics anthology. The open call invites illustrators and comic artists based in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to submit proposals for original six-page comics. Selected artists will participate in a three-day creative exchange in Sharjah and have their completed works published in the printed anthology, which will launch at Focal Point, the foundation's annual art book fair. The deadline for applications is 30 June 2026.
Corniche is a community-centered publishing initiative that originated from a collaborative comic-making workshop in Sharjah in 2019. It has since evolved into an annual platform that supports comic artists and illustrators across the GCC, offering opportunities for experimentation, networking, and professional development. By providing visibility and a printed outlet for diverse storytelling—ranging from autobiography to science fiction—the anthology strengthens the regional contemporary comics scene and connects participants with a growing network of publishers and readers.
