Two art festivals are taking place in Ohio this weekend: the 42nd Art by the Falls in Chagrin Falls, presented by Valley Art Center, and the 35th annual Art in the Village with Craft Marketplace at Legacy Village in Lyndhurst. Art by the Falls runs June 6-7 at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field, featuring a juried show of painters, potters, jewelers, sculptors, and photographers, along with live music, food trucks, a wine-and-beer tent, and a kids' tent. Art in the Village, also June 6-7, includes a juried fine-art show with over 100 artists and crafters, a green market, and musical performances. Additionally, Stella's Art Gallery in Willoughby is opening "The Landscape Show: Real or Fantasy" with a call for entries and an awards reception, and the gallery's owner Dani Klein has curated "Signature Works" for the Willoughby Hills community center.
These events matter because they highlight the vitality of local art scenes in Northeast Ohio, offering accessible opportunities for the public to engage with original artwork, support regional artists, and participate in community cultural life. The festivals and gallery shows demonstrate how art organizations and commercial centers collaborate to bring fine art and craft to diverse audiences, fostering creative expression and economic activity in suburban communities. Such grassroots programming is essential for sustaining art appreciation outside major metropolitan museums and galleries.
