Ken Nwadiogbu und Monopol-Chefin Elke Buhr im Gespräch

Nigerian artist Ken Nwadiogbu will appear at the Zurich Art Weekend on Sunday, June 14, for a talk titled "Building Bridges Between Lagos and London" at the Schwarzes Café in the Löwenbräu complex. He will be joined by Elke Buhr, editor-in-chief of Monopol magazine, to discuss his artistic practice, which combines abstraction and hyperrealism while centering the Black community. Nwadiogbu is the current winner of the Young Generation Art Award, initiated by Degussa and Monopol magazine. The event is free and open to the public.

This talk matters because it highlights the growing international recognition of African contemporary artists and the role of art fairs and awards in bridging cultural and geographic divides. Nwadiogbu's presence at Zurich Art Weekend underscores the increasing visibility of artists from Lagos and the global reach of platforms like Monopol in fostering cross-continental dialogue. The free public access also reflects a commitment to making high-level art discourse accessible beyond traditional gallery audiences.
