Biju Cherayath’s latest art exhibition invites visitors to slow down

Artist Biju Cherayath's latest exhibition, part of Alliance Française's Jaragandi 2.0 World Environment Week initiative in Bengaluru, showcases works inspired by landscapes, rocks, trees, and natural spaces. The show features a large piece based on a three-billion-year-old rock formation at Bannerghatta, created on an upcycled canvas, alongside workshops designed to encourage introspection. Cherayath, formerly a corporate exhibition designer, embraced complete creative freedom for this show, drawing inspiration from her cycling experiences through Bengaluru.

This exhibition matters because it directly addresses the fast-paced urban lifestyle by inviting viewers to slow down and reconnect with their environment. In a city known for relentless movement, Cherayath's work challenges the tendency to reduce places to mere destinations on Google Maps, emphasizing the lost art of truly experiencing the world. The show's integration with World Environment Week underscores the growing intersection of art, environmental awareness, and mental well-being in contemporary urban culture.
