In pictures: the best of Art Basel’s city-wide Parcours exhibition

Art Basel's city-wide Parcours exhibition, curated for the third time by Stefanie Hessler, returns with the theme of "conviviality." Spread across shop windows, churches, hotels, abandoned buildings, and Basel's tram network, the exhibition features works by artists including Kader Attia, Cinthia Marcelle, Sarah Crowner, Ishi Glinsky, Amol K Patil, and Haegue Yang. Hessler selected seven works that explore community, ecology, labor, technology, and public life, asking who defines how we live together and share space.

The exhibition matters because it extends Art Basel's influence beyond the fair's convention center, engaging the city's public spaces and everyday environments with site-specific contemporary art. By occupying advertising infrastructure, abandoned buildings, and transit systems, Parcours challenges the commercial context of the art market and invites broader audiences to encounter art in unexpected places, fostering dialogue about shared space and social coexistence.
