A New Book by CULTURED’s Sarah Harrelson Explores the World’s Top Art Collections

Sarah Harrelson, founder and editor-in-chief of CULTURED magazine, has authored a new book titled *The Cultured Collector*, set for release on October 28 by Monacelli. The 256-page volume features 30 top art collections from around the world, including those of artists Alex Israel and Jennifer Guidi, gallerists David Kordansky and Gordon VeneKlasen, musicians Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, and tennis legend Venus Williams, who contributed a foreword. The book includes never-before-seen photographs and intimate conversations about collecting, inspired by Harrelson's long-running "Collector Questionnaire" column in CULTURED.

The book matters because it offers a rare, insider look at how diverse figures—from artists and dealers to entrepreneurs and celebrities—live with and relate to art, emphasizing collecting as a form of personal connection rather than expertise. By spotlighting the passion and influence of collectors, Harrelson underscores their vital role in shaping artists' careers and the broader art ecosystem, making the book a significant resource for understanding contemporary art patronage.
