The 'China Porcelain Global Journey' — China Contemporary Ceramic Art International Touring Exhibition opened at the China Cultural Center in Luxembourg on June 15. Co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Luxembourg, Jingdezhen Ceramic University, the China Cultural Center in Luxembourg, and China International Culture Group, the event drew over 150 guests, including Chinese Ambassador Hua Ning, Luxembourg's Ambassador-at-Large Marc Hübsch, and local artists. The exhibition features nearly 100 works from major Chinese ceramic production areas such as Jingdezhen, Yixing, and Luoyang, showcasing blue-and-white porcelain, linglong ware, and color glazes. A hands-on porcelain-painting activity titled 'Gifts from China' followed the opening, and the touring exhibition will continue to Turkiye and France.
This exhibition matters because it represents a significant cultural exchange initiative along the Silk Road, using porcelain—a historic symbol of Chinese civilization—as a bridge to foster mutual understanding between China and Europe. By blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary innovation, the show highlights the ongoing vitality of Chinese ceramic art and strengthens diplomatic and cultural ties between China and Luxembourg. The event also underscores the role of art institutions and universities in promoting cross-cultural dialogue on an international stage.
