The MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma in Rome opens its summer 2026 season with two new exhibitions. The first, "Ciò che mi guarda," is a major retrospective of Swiss artist Miriam Cahn (born 1949), curated by museum director Cristiana Perrella, featuring over 130 works spanning more than fifty years of Cahn’s career. The second, "Le imperfezioni," is a group show by Caterina De Nicola, Irene Fenara, and Lorenza Longhi, winners of the third edition of the Premio Paul Thorel, curated by Sara Dolfi Agostini, presenting works created during a residency in Naples in 2025.
These exhibitions matter because they highlight two complementary yet distinct approaches to contemporary art: Cahn’s urgent, body-centered practice addressing violence, desire, and vulnerability through raw mark-making, and the younger artists’ critical engagement with digital infrastructure and algorithmic logic. Together, they affirm MACRO’s role as a platform for both established international voices and emerging Italian talent, while also showcasing the ongoing relevance of the Premio Paul Thorel in fostering new artistic production.
