The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden has launched a major partnership with the Art Bridges Foundation called '50 for 50'. This initiative will send long-term loans of significant American artworks from the Hirshhorn's collection to smaller museums in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, with loans lasting three to five years.
The program aims to dramatically increase public access to major works by artists like Georgia O'Keeffe and Joan Mitchell that are often in storage. It aligns with the Art Bridges Foundation's mission, founded by Alice Walton, to support American art access nationwide. The project seeks to fulfill the Hirshhorn's role as a national museum by sharing its robust collection with institutions that have fewer resources.
