Festival of Cats brings cat-inspired art to Thanet

The Festival of Cats, a community arts festival celebrating feline-themed art, is returning to Margate, Kent, from May 1-4. Featuring exhibitions, events, and workshops across fine art, poetry, film, performance, and craft, the festival showcases work from 100 local artists. Originally launched in 2018 as a satellite event for Turner Contemporary's "Journeys with The Waste Land" exhibition, it was inspired by T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats and has since grown into a Thanet-wide event attracting thousands of visitors.

Robbie Williams' songwriter to play at flower fair

Songwriter Guy Chambers, best known for his long creative partnership with Robbie Williams, will perform a piano recital at the Review of Sussex Arts (ROSA) Botanical Art Fair in Chichester, UK, from 1-4 May. The fair, held at West Dean Gardens, brings together over 100 artists and performers from across Europe, featuring a sculpture garden, contemporary floristry, and a botanical art exhibition curated by 18 members of The Society of Botanical Artists. Environmental organization Forests Without Frontiers will host an immersive "Listening to Nature" performance using headphones to amplify natural sounds.

Students in the spotlight during May exhibit at the Strawn

The David Strawn Art Gallery in Jacksonville, Illinois, will host a May exhibition titled "Students of the Strawn," featuring artwork created by students who recently completed art classes offered by The Art Association of Jacksonville. The show includes drawings, paintings, and pottery, with an opening reception scheduled for Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at 331 W. College Ave. The exhibit runs through May 24, with free admission and a formal introduction of instructors and students at 6:30 p.m.
