artadia artists tennis court benefit

Artadia, a nonprofit grantmaker, held its third annual tennis tournament at the Los Angeles Tennis Club in May 2025, moving the event from its traditional pre-Frieze slot in response to the year's wildfires. The fundraiser, co-chaired by Charles Gaines, Jennie Lamensdorf, and Rafael Flores, gathered over 130 guests including gallerists from Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, and David Zwirner, as well as curator Mia Locks and artists Ally Hilfiger, Todd Gray, and Roksana Pirouzmand. Forty-five participants played in a rotating doubles format, while others socialized; Locks gave remarks and won the tournament.

Here's what's at Southwest Florida art centers in August

Southwest Florida's art centers are hosting 29 exhibitions in August, spanning venues from Sarasota to Marco Island. Highlights include Art Center Sarasota's juried show 'Vice and Virtue' exploring morality, Jacob Z. Wan's LGBTQ+ intimacy-themed mixed media installation 'Me, Myself and I, Vol. 3', a youth exhibition 'INK: Quilt of Identity' by ALSO Youth, and Dorothea (D') Calvert's ceramic series 'Praxis'.

Exhibitions on view in July at Southwest Florida art centers

Southwest Florida is home to over a dozen art centers, and in July 2025, 24 exhibitions are on view across venues from Sarasota to Marco Island. Highlights include Art Center Sarasota's 'Vice and Virtue: Annual Juried Regional Show,' juried by curator Jessica Todd, exploring morality and duality; Venice Art Center's solo shows by Karen Weih and Cosette Kosiba; the 'Over the Bridge' exhibition at Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda featuring B.A. Wikoff and Lily Obsitnik; and the 'Member’s Showcase Exhibit' at the same venue. Satellite shows and the DeSoto Arts Center's annual art show round out the month's offerings.

Stained glass artists open Mount Vernon arts hub — The Gallery on Gambier

Stained glass artists Kurt and Lorraine Wendling have officially opened The Gallery on Gambier in downtown Mount Vernon, Ohio. The new creative hub serves as the permanent home for their business, Wendling Glass Creations, while also showcasing the work of approximately 20 other artists specializing in mediums ranging from photography to oil painting. The space is designed as a multi-functional venue, incorporating a retail gallery, a custom framing center, and a dedicated classroom for art instruction.

Call is out for local talent

The District Council of Grant in South Australia is launching the inaugural Art-Ability Exhibition at The Hangar Gallery in Mount Gambier, calling on local artists living with disabilities to submit their work. The exhibition, recommended by the Council’s Access and Inclusion Advisory Panel, will run from September 2025 to February 2026, with entries closing on July 28, 2025. A People’s Choice Award and a $500 prize pool will be announced on International Day of People with Disability, December 3, 2025.
