LMDC’s ‘Chance 4 Change’ program partners with Portland Museum to display inmates’ art

Louisville Metro Department of Corrections (LMDC) has partnered with the Portland Museum to display artwork created by inmates in the 'Chance 4 Change' program, a voluntary 90-day substance abuse treatment initiative. The exhibition, titled 'Human, Too,' features paper-based works by at least ten inmates and will run through the end of August, with a public reception scheduled for Friday evening.

Ripple Effect Art Festival to Spread Across County

The inaugural Ripple Effect Arts Festival will take place April 16–26 across Santa Cruz County, featuring 11 days of performances, exhibitions, workshops, and interactive events spanning visual art, music, dance, theater, film, fashion, and spoken word. The festival includes two concurrent exhibitions at M.K. Contemporary Art in downtown Santa Cruz: 'The Anatomy of Wonder: Photo Sculptures' by Michael Garlington and 'Rochambeau' featuring eight local and Bay Area artists. Major hubs include Santa Cruz and Watsonville, with a grand finale near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk featuring musician Helado Negro.

Melville to become an open-air art gallery for a weekend

Melville Open Studios returns for its ninth year, transforming the Western Australian suburb into an open-air gallery for one weekend. Seventy-seven local artists will open their home studios and dedicated hubs—including Atwell House, Goolugatup Heathcote, Applecross Art Gallery, Feld & Co., and Myaree Ceramics—to the public. Visitors can explore ceramics, painting, printmaking, floristry, mixed media, and textiles, purchase artworks commission-free, and take guided bus tours across six routes. Coordinator Jennifer Gaye, who took over the event from the City of Melville in 2022, reports that last year's edition attracted 5,000 visitors and generated over $100,000 in direct sales for artists.

LCCC hosts 2026 student art show at Cheyenne campus gallery

Laramie County Community College (LCCC) is hosting its 2026 Student Art Show at the Esther and John Clay Fine Art Gallery on the Cheyenne campus, running through May 10. A public reception will be held on April 28 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Art instructor and gallery coordinator Daniel Maw expects over 100 submissions from currently enrolled students, featuring drawings, paintings, ceramics, and other media.

Artists from OMAH exhibit to speak at Storytelling Orillia circle

Artists participating in the International Women's Day Art Show at the Orillia Museum of Art and History (OMAH) will share the stories behind their artworks at a monthly story circle hosted by Storytelling Orillia. Ten artists, including show coordinator Juliana Hawke and organizer Sharon Langfield, are expected to speak at the event, which is open to the public.

Sarasota Student Art Takes Center Stage: 71st Annual Spring Art Show Showcases 1,500 Young Artists

Art Center Sarasota is hosting the 71st Annual North Sarasota County Schools Spring Art Show from April 28 to May 9, 2026, featuring over 1,500 student artists from kindergarten through 12th grade. The exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, mixed media, photography, and experimental works, with a High School Awards Ceremony awarding more than $20,000 in scholarships and prizes. The show is organized by coordinators Angela Hartvigsen and Debra Markley, and coincides with Art Center Sarasota's 100th anniversary.
